City Council
Study Session Summary
February 1, 2022
• Fencing installation is starting today; it should take about 2-3 weeks to be
completed.
• The Police Department is staffing the hard closure areas and coordinating with
Planning for the upcoming demolition and building work. Want to manage
access as effectively and efficiently as possible.
• Many communities are lifting mask mandates; BCPH hasn't made a
determination yet. If adjacent communities lift their mandates it will make
enforcement more difficult for us and for businesses.
• Currently have only five COVID cases in staff right now; that is down significantly
from last week.
• Ascent Church is still getting some visitors for support and placards.
• We have initiative a meeting with our insurance broker and carrier so can assess
better exactly where we are for our own damage.
• Looking at establishing communications directly with neighborhood groups. We
are thinking through how to determine point persons with each neighborhood.
Hope to use the process to get information out and to hear back from
neighborhoods.
• We are still maintaining a volunteer list and can share that list for people with
projects.
• The Rec Center has couple thousand KN95 masks to distribute and on February
4 they will host another vaccine clinic.
• Working on the milestone Gantt chart to share with the community.
• We have acquired ten Purple Air Sensors to install in City facilities. BVSD is
doing the same. We have also secured a 10% discount for residents if they want
to get their own.
Councilmember Brown asked how can neighborhoods can take advantage of the
Planning help for the rebuilding of neighborhoods. City Manager Durbin stated it is not
ready for roll out quite yet but a process should be available soon.
Mayor Stolzmann asked if signs could be placed on the streets where we are seeing
deterioration from last year's work and can explain the roads are under warranty and
will be fixed when weather allows.
Councilmember Leh asked if we have a time frame for when that road work will be
completed. City Manager Durbin stated it is weather dependent; it will need to be over
40 degrees to do the work.
Adjourned 9:53 am.
Submitted 211122 Meredyth Muth
