.'1 Memorandum To: Historical Commission Members From: Meredyth Muth, Public Relations Manager Date: June 17, 2008 Re: Agenda Item VII - Written Report Budget Update The City Manager has informed staff that sales tax and use fees are coming in well below the 2009 budget numbers. Should this trend continue, there may be the need to be for budget cuts for 2010 as well as the need for budget reductions for the remainder of 2009. For the museum this means the following: . There will be no new staff positions in 2010. . The 2010 Capital budget has been through its first round of reviews and the museum signage proposal did not make the cut. However, at this time the museum maintenance budget is likely to be included in the 2010 budget. . The City Manager is reviewing options for reductions in the city-wide budget for the remainder of 2009. Should any of those reductions affect the museum, I will let you know. The City is currently conducting a survey to ask residents about their thoughts on possible new revenue sources (taxes or fees) to help offset the budget losses. No decisions have been made, and I will keep you informed about this as the 2010 budget process moves forward. Facility Update The City's Facility Maintenance Supervisor continues to work on the list of maintenance issues at the museum and hopes to have the list completed this year. A request for proposals from painting companies is expected to be put out in the next few weeks. The painting will include lead abatement on the Tomeo House. Colors on the Jacoe Store and Tomeo house will be matched with the existing colors. The colors on the Jordinelli House will be changed just a bit to a slightly creamier white and a dark green trim.
