Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
February 28, 2022
Advisory Board (PPLAB). Megan Davis encouraged the RAB board to submit projects that we would
like included in the CIP.
Lisa compiled a "RAB Suggestions for Capital Improvements." We discussed and edited the list,
deleting page 1: #5 and #6, page 2: #4 and #5, and the entire "For the Parks Budget" section.
Resolved: With the above -mentioned changes to the project list, these Suggestions for Capital
Improvements should be adopted into the CIP proposal.
Motion: Gene Kutscher
Second: Mary O'Brien
The motion was passed unanimously.
Lisa will edit the list of suggestions and will present it to the PPLAB on Thursday, March 3. If Lisa is not
able to attend, Mary will attend.
Golf and Rec Center Marketing Plan Updates
Ginger Cross presented the yearly calendar of marketing for Golf, the Recreation and Senior Center,
Open Space, and Parks. One current focus is a hiring campaign. The golf season starts in March, and
the next Recreation & Senior Center catalog comes out in April. Ginger sends monthly e-news to
showcase what is happening. There have been no rounds of golf in January and February of this year,
but Ginger clarified to board members that the golf course has been close due to snow, not because
of fire damage.
Kathy reminded us of the December "12 Days of Fitness" with the Grinch videos, which promoted rec
center activities in a fun way. Many of the RAB members had enjoyed the videos. The board
commended Ginger for a great job of communicating what's happening.
Golf Feasibility Plan Update
David Baril reported that he has been communicating with two companies, Z Design and National Golf
Foundation, providing them with background information and details. He will meet with them soon
to make sure that they have all of the information that they need. David will involve more people as
the process moves along.
Director Hiring Update
Kathy reported that the City hired a consultant to assist in hiring the next Director of Parks, Recreation
and Open Space. The position is posted. The consultant is currently accepting applications and will
hand over initial candidate recommendations in April. The City hopes to have a candidate onboard in
June or July.
Michele Van Pelt asked if the RAB will have a voice in the process. Megan Davis said that the last
director search included representation from the relevant boards. Megan will talk to the consultant
to ask that the relevant boards be included in this process.
5
