DESOLUTION #43 - ADOPTED

ACCEPTANCE OF CITY ATTORNEY'S
REPORT

CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
96TH ST. STUDY PROPOSAL

10/18/83

Page -12-

from the aesthetic quality of the project
as opposed to improving it. The 7' security
fence is very standard for this type project.
In terms of additional landscaping additional
trees could be planted along the north boundary
but would request that they be the lower cost
type of trees. The original proposal was
for 4 lots but at the request of staff was
reduced to 3 to allow for street right-of-
ways, as well as setting the project back
to allow for a major tie to extended 96th
Street. When somethimg occurs to the east
of this site there are various kinds of
landscaping opportunities in the right-of-way
but felt as that right-of-way moves to the
south it will be elevated to get over the
RR tracks; consequently anything that is done
will be lost in the right-of-way.
Stated in terms of the natural environment
being maintained, felt that they had complied
with this by moving the alignment of the
street to the east so that the existing trees
will be preserved.

Councilman Cussen moved, Councilman Fauson
seconded that Resolution #43 - Olson Final
Plat and P.U.D. be adopted. Question called
for. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.

Councilman Fauson moved, Mayor Meier seconded
that the City Attorney's report be accepted
and placed on file. Question called for.
All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.

Councilmembers had a copy of a memo from
Director of Public Works Karl Kasch, stating
the purpose of the study, timetable and cost.
Administrator Wurl stated that for some years
now we have had discussions with various
agencies relating to the need for a new inter-
change on U.S. 36 at 96th. and were trying to
get someone to do a study. In that process
Broomfield offered an option, but was one
that we felt was not in Louisville's best
interest. They wanted an interchange a half-
mile down the highway. Meetings were held
with the County, then DRCOG got involved at
the request of the County and we are now at
the point where COG has indicated a willing-
ness to coordinate the work; hire a consultant
to do the work and the cost will be split
