DEFEATED ELECTION ON ORDINANCE #746 Amendment on the Motion Vote on the Amendment to the Motion DEFEATED Motion for Special Election DEFEATED 5/18/83 Page -24- Morris Cummings Cussen Fauson Leary Ferrera 3-3 tie. Motion Yes No Yes No Yes No defeated Councilman Leary moved, Councilman Cussen seconded that an election be set for the Referendum matter as turned into the City on Ordinance #746. In answer to Councilman Ferrera's question of how soon an election could be held, Attorney Rautenstraus advised Council had an alternative. The election can be at the next municipal election or a special election which may not be within 90 days preceding a regular election. Nor could they call a special election within 30 days of the date of the call of the election. Specifically a special election would possibly need to be set in July. Councilman Cussen moved, Councilwoman seconded to amend the motion that the election be held concurrent with the Municipal election in the fall. Councilman Ferrera favored the election on the issue as soon as possible at a Special Election. Discussion by council regarding specific date for a special election, allowing enough time for voter registration, etc. Question called for. 3 Ayes - Councilmembers Morris, Cussen and Leary; 3 Nays - Councilmen Ferrera, Cummings and Fauson dissenting. 3-3 tie. Motion defeated. Councilman Cummings moved, Councilman Ferrera seconded that a Special Election be held July 12, 1983. Roll call vote: Cummings Yes Ferrera Yes Leary No Cussen No Fauson Yes Morris No 3-3 tie Motion defeated.
