Chief Building Inspector Ferris Public Hearing Continued Council Comments Councilwoman Morris ORDINANCE #780 ADOPTED ORDINANCE #781 - Uniform Mechanical Code - 1982 2nd Reading - Public Hearing Steve Ferris 2/15/83 Page -9- Advised basically the ordinance updated the code from 1979 to 1982. Also reported Covered Mall Buildings was deleted from the Municipal Code and adopting it through the Uniform Building Code as an appendix. Another chapter was being adopted dealing with existing structures with existing roofs to be used as a procedural item. An addition was made to the UBC dealing with windows in basements and structures with stories below the fourth floor - adds an egress window where plumbing facilities are provided; gives the Fire Dept. ingress in case of a fire and egress for the residents in case of an emer- gency. The window need not go necessarily in a bathroom; goes somewhere on the floor. Another change was Minimum Isle Width to clarify the UBC for storage areas as well as office areas. Anyone in the audience in favor of the ordinance. None. Anyone opposed - none. Attorney Rautenstraus advised that section 15.04.070 had been altered since the first reading and would be passed as an amendment to the ordinance. Mayor Meier closed the public hearing. Thanked Building Inspector Ferris for pro- viding her with copies of all the Code Books. Councilman Cummings moved, Councilwoman Morris seconded that Ordinance #780 - Uniform Building Code 1982 as amended be adopted. Roll call vote: Fauson Leary Cummings Morris Cussen Meier Ferrera Motion carried Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes unanimously. Councilmembers had a copy and Attorney Rau- tenstraus read the ordinance by title only and certified proper publication. Mayor Meier opened the public hearing. Attorney Rautenstraus certified proper publi- cation of the public hearing. Advised that an appendix was added as a guide- line for vent sizing.
