<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 19, 2009 <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />Due to City Manager Fleming being unable to attend, no report was given. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS <br /> <br />The City of Louisville established an annual scholarship to acknowledge and <br />inspire community and civic involvement. The criteria for the scholarship <br />includes Louisville residency for a minimum of 2 years; attendance at a local high <br />school; a minimum GPA of 2.5 and civic involvement and/or employment with the <br />City of Louisville. <br /> <br />Each candidate for the scholarship was required to write a one-page essay titled <br />"My Civic Involvement" or "My Employment with the City of Louisville". Seven <br />applications were received and reviewed by Mayor Sisk and Councilor Yarnell. It <br />was their recommendation the City award the scholarships to the following two <br />students: $1,000.00 to Mallory Pearson attending Colorado State University and <br />$1,000.00 to Sarah Jane Seifert attending the University of Colorado - Leeds <br />Business School. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella presented the scholarships to Mallory Pearson and <br />Sarah Seifert. Each of the recipients expressed their thanks to the City for the <br />scholarships. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 18, SERIES 2009 - A RESOLUTION TO AMEND <br />RESOLUTION No.7, SERIES 2007 EXPANDING THE BUSINESS RETENTION <br />AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem requested a presentation. <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton explained the Business Retention and Development Committee <br />(BRaD) is composed of representatives from the City Council, the Planning <br />Commission, Revitalization Commission, Chamber of Commerce and the <br />Downtown Business Association. Resolution No. 18, Series 2009, if authorized, <br />would expand the BRaD membership to include a representative from the <br />Colorado Technology Center (CTC). <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />
