He noted the City already allows ducks and <br />turkeys. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton spoke to a number of residents about keeping chickens and <br />reported the opposition was 10-1 against keeping of chickens, for odor and <br />predator reasons. <br /> <br />Councilor Yarnell reported hearing similar comments and suggested public <br />education on all sides of the issue. <br /> <br />Councilor Clabots reported on hearing from residents who support and oppose <br />chickens in the City. <br /> <br />Councilor Sackett reported hearing numerous people voice their opposition to <br />keeping chickens in the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella heard from numerous people who oppose keeping <br />chickens. She voiced her concern over pitting neighbor against neighbor over <br />noise, odor and predation issues. She noted the City may not have sufficient <br />funds to provide Code Enforcement for monitoring such complaints. <br /> <br />Councilor Muckle reported on hearing public support for keeping chickens. He <br />agreed public education is a key component and suggested a permit system with <br />an expiration date that could be put into place. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk reported on the emails the Council has received in support and in <br />opposition of keeping chickens. He suggested Council look at various other <br />cities ordinances, which address the areas of concerns. He agreed there should <br />be public education, but felt further investigation was required. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Seth Sovack, 824 Lee Avenue, Louisville, CO felt residents who speak in support <br />of keeping chickens are speaking from a factual basis and those who are in <br />opposition are speaking from urban myths. <br /> <br />Meredyth Eddy, 201 S. Tyler Avenue, Louisville, CO addressed Mayor Pro Tem <br />Marsella's concerns and felt it should be a matter for Animal Control rather than <br />the Planning Commission. She addressed the issue of neighborhood complaints, <br />and suggested a neighborhood survey be required for a permit. <br />
