6/15/82

Page -9-

l''llke Malmer
1766 W. Chokecherry Drive

Introduced himself to Council and expressed
his concern about the size of the office
complex proposed to be constructed by Neodata.
He felt a complex of this size didn't belong
in residential subdivisions. Commented the
people who approved of this complex saw it
as clean industry with good tax revenues;
but felt it should be located in the indus-
trial area and requested Council not approve
the subdivision plat as presented. It was
also his feeling the complex did not meet
spirit nor letter of the zoning regulations.

Steve Yatchak
1091 Azure Way

Stated he lived in Continental View Estates
and thanked Council for the opportunity to
speak. Commented that he was disappointed
to see so few residents of the Mesa in at-
tendance. He knew of 300 residents who were
against the proposal; but felt they were
not in attendance because they felt no one
on Council would listen to their concerns.
Mr. Yatchak expressed his concerns with
the traffic, potential water problems,
incompatibility of light industry - a
monstrous office complex in a fine residential
area. He questioned Council if there was any-
thing that anyone could say that would delay
the project.

Dennis Knowlton
955 W. Plum

Thanked Council for allowing him to speak
and stated that he knew of two petitions being
circulated against the Neodata proposal.
Advised that several people in the neighboring
areas were very much against the proposal
and had stated their concerns at the Planning
Commission meeting as well as the negotiating
meetings with Neodata. He too felt that the
proposed complex was too large and should be
relocated in the CTC industrial area. It was
his opinion the zoning was for small personal
services, i.e. animal clinic, doctors, dentists,
attorneys, ~tc. His grave concern was that
Neodata is an international organization em-
ploying approximately 300 people driving 300
cars. He felt there were 2 options available
to Council pertinent to the proposal - review
the zoning to be more restrictive, or delay
their decision and ask the City Attorney to
get an independent judge to rule on the zoning.
Mr. Knowlton stated the Neodata purchase of
the property was contingent upon the passing
of the subdivision resolution; requested de-
laying the action until another appraisal of
the zoning was obtained.
