'::CEPTANCE Q F CITY ADMIN- ISTRATOR'S REPORT COUNCIL COMMENTS & COMMITTEE REPORTS - Councilman Fauson DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS Water Rate Rebate to Elderly Councilman Leary Audit Mayor Meier Clean Up 6/1/82 Page -8- Councilman Fauson moved, Councilman Ferrera seconded that the City Administrator's re- port be accepted and placed on file. Question called for. All in favor. Motion carried. Wished to compliment Director Hioco on the maintenance of the Cemetery for a job well done by him and his crew. Would like Council's consideration of looking into the Director of Public Works position. He felt the City should fill this position as the department was divided into many divisions and by having a head of the depart- ment it would function more efficiently. It was his opinion that if Engineering, Supt. of Water and Wastewater Plants, Supt. of Streets, Water and Wastewater Distribution, and Vehicle Equipment and Maintenance were placed under one director he felt the City could save money. He had not discussed this with anyone else, but he felt that in some instances there have been duplications of work; in other instances the work not being done because one department didn't know what the other department was doing. Perhaps this work would be coordinated more efficiently by filling this position. He referred to the budget stating the money to fill the position was budgeted for 1982. His recommendation was that David Blanchard be considered for the position, as well as City Engineer. Councilman Fauson inquired the status of the water rate rebate for the elderly. Administrator Wur1 advised he and the City Attorney were in the process of developing a schedule. Inquired when Counci1members would receive the audit, and has a work session date been set? Administrator Wur1 advised a tentative date has been set, which has to be confirmed with the auditors - will advise soon. Complimented Director Hioco and his crew for the work done at the Cemetery for Memorial Day. Wished to publicly thank the city employees with the City clean-up, giving up their Saturday, was well organized, good participa- tion.
