<br />Councilman Fauson <br /> <br />Councilman Leary <br />Amendment to Ordinance #760 <br /> <br />Mayor Meier <br /> <br />Motion withdrawn on Amendment <br /> <br />PUBLICATION AUTHORIZED <br /> <br />ORDINANCE #761 - BUILDING AND <br />MECHANICAL PERMIT FEES <br /> <br />Councilman Cussen <br /> <br />5/4/82 <br /> <br />Page -16- <br /> <br />Inquired how the $200,000.00 the City had <br />received from the sale of sewer land was <br />spent. <br />Wurl advised the operation of the City. <br />Fauson then inquired how many employees <br />are paid from the water fund each month? <br />Chief Accountant Caranci advised nine <br />employees. <br /> <br />General discussion held by Council re- <br />garding increased water and sewer rates <br />to provide revenues to meet expenditures <br />of the fund, and overexpenditures being <br />funded through other revenue sources, i.e. <br />sales tax, property tax, etc. <br /> <br />Moved that Ordinance in 60 be amended to <br />read 0 - 12,000 gallons for $8.00 and <br />12,001 - 15,000 $8.00 for the first <br />12,000 gallons plus $.65 for each additional <br />1,000 gallons or fraction thereof. The <br />rest of the rates to remain the same. <br /> <br />Advised there had been no set procedure to <br />deal with a motion that does not receive <br />a second either by himself or council. <br />Councilman Leary withdrew his motion. for <br />lack of a second. <br />Councilwoman Morris moved, Councilman Cussen <br />seconded that Ordinance #760 - Water and <br />Wastewater Rates be published and a public <br />hearing be set for May 18, 1982. Question <br />called for. 6 Ayes 1 Nay - Councilman <br />Fauson opposing. Motion carried 6-1. <br /> <br />Mayor and councilmembers had a copy of the <br />ordinance before them. <br />Attorney Rautenstraus read the ordinance <br />on first reading by title only, and the <br />request was for publication. <br /> <br />Inquired how these increased fees compared <br />to those of surrounding cities. <br />Administrator Wurl noted no fees were charged <br />for the first $500 of valuation for the owner <br />who would perhaps wish to do repairs on his <br />home, and the other fees were implemented <br />with the Uniform Building Code. <br />
