City Council
Study Session Summary
March 8, 2022
Councilmember Brown asked the status of the law suit. City Manager Durbin stated
there was an initial status conference yesterday and the first hearing may be next
Friday. In the meantime, work continues work on the IGA and debris contract. That IGA
may be considered by the County Commissioners and City Council as soon as March
15. We are probably about a month behind where we hoped to be originally. Mayor
Stolzmann noted the County is also going through the appeals process by two
companies who did not receive the bid.
Councilmember Brown stated the Coal Creek Ranch HOA has reached out about
getting some help with contractors and processes for architectural review. They know
they will have a large volume of applications with the rebuild and they are unsure how
they will handle those.
Councilmember Fahey stated property owners are looking for help on assessing shrubs
and trees to see if they should be removed with debris or kept. If they are kept, they are
wondering how they can be watered over the summer months. City Manager Durbin
stated part of the debris removal contract will include an arborist who will assess what
landscaping is viable, what might be hazardous to debris crews, and what should be
removed. There will be a tagging process so people will know how their trees have been
assessed. As to water for the summer, we are not sure what the options are as water
will be turned off in these areas. Neighborhoods may want to contract with a
landscaping service that can bring in water on a schedule.
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney would like more information on who has been designated as
neighborhood captains and when meetings are scheduled.
Mayor Stolzmann asked for an update on emergency egress plans from Monarch HS.
City Manager Durbin stated there have been initial staff conversations with BVSD about
a potential near term emergency egress option but it will require working with Boulder
County as the property is not in the city. If this moves forward the City would not be a
party to any application but would facilitate discussions.
Adjourned 9:46 am.
Submitted 318122 Meredyth Muth
