City Council
Study Session Summary
April 18, 2022
• Received the first report from our insurance carrier. A big challenge will be
identifying if damage was caused by wind or fire as they have different
deductibles. We have a $250K maximum coverage for outdoor landscape
coverage which we know we will exceed.
• Staff is finalizing requests for reimbursement of law enforcement agencies who
helped during the fire and after for access control. This is an eligible
reimbursement expense but we will need to define that number.
• The Police Department caught people stealing catalytic converters from cars in
the burn area recently.
• The dog off leash are fence is still a priority; staff is trying to determine if we can
do the fence work in house, as we are working to rebid the project as well.
• The City's irrigation systems were affected by the fire. Staff from Lakewood
Broomfield, and Denver are sending irrigation techs out next month to help our
staff do a review of the systems.
Councilmember Dickinson asked if soil testing results affect the PPDR plans and how
much soil is removed. City Manager Durbin stated the standard is to scrape until it
appears clean and then test to see if they went deep got enough.
Councilmember Brown asked when there will be a broader discussion of open space
management. City Manager Durbin stated we are hiring a contractor for help get a
mowing plan this year but we will need a longer term more detailed plan addressing
many management issues.
Adjourned 9:54 am.
Submitted 4118122 Meredyth Muth
