Open Space Advisory Board
Information Item 5: Staff Updates Continued
April 13, 2021
b. On March 30, staff were able to make phone contact with the individual who
had placed the campsite on Open Space. The individual, who is homeless,
requested more time to remove a few items he might still need within a tent at
the site. He agreed to complete this by April 10, and agreed that staff could
immediately remove all items outside the tent.
c. Six staff members, including the two new seasonal employees, cleaned up
approximately three pickup truck loads of material. In order to safely carry out
cleanup, staff constructed a temporary bridge over Coal Creek, which they
removed upon completing their work. The cleanup project took about one hour
(see pictures at end).
d. Staff will return to the site after April 10 to remove any remaining material.
2. Ranger staff are working with the Police Department to investigate a series of graffiti
incidents that have taken place on City -owned property. The ranger has completed
several case reports and collected and booked evidence for use by Police investigators
17
