Sustainability Advisory Board Agenda
April 20, 2022
Matt was open to the idea. Tiffany suggested to add a question about
fleet electrification.
ii. Transportation (Tiffany and Dan) — Tiffany shared the idea about a
parade entry and decarbonization fair at Community Park that would
include fleet and charging station information. The Eco-warriors group
would be included as well. Emily noted that the City hosts Labor Day
and the Chamber hosts Taste of Louisville. There was a discussion
about the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) and the potential to
activate grant funds for electrifying fleet vehicles. They have many
programs, such as the Charge Ahead grant money for charging
stations. Tiffany mentioned that Commuting Solutions helped start the
e-scooter program in Boulder. It was noted that Boulder Valley School
District (BVSD) is adding six electric buses. Tiffany would like to put a
planning committee together to work on the parade and Eco-tober
event planning.
iii. Residential (Todd and Josh) — Todd explained that the Mow Down
Pollution event will be on May 14, which is a collaboration with
Superior and Lafayette. Home Depot is also running an electric
equipment sale that weekend. Lowe's and ACE are participating in the
Mow Down voucher program and the 3 cities funded vouchers for
residents in each township. Vouchers are $150/mower and $50/blower.
No sign up is required to drop mower. Todd noted that lawn equipment
is 1/3 of ozone pollution on the Front Range. He mentioned we should
obtain promotional data from RAQC to show at the event. The model
with the 3 cities is working well — it's easy to expand events and invite
cities in the region to participate. Todd suggested starting a
commercial electric landscaper pilot and analyzing the data. He
wondered if the City could buy equipment and allow companies to try
it? The City could use the equipment when it's not being borrowed.
Josh explained that LSAB is planning to attend The Farmer's Market
events this summer to provide info about Xcel rebates, audits,
efficiency programs, etc. and hand out reusable bags. LSAB could also
promote sub -committee participation at this event.
3
