anyone serving in role of Parks & Open Space Director. Would also like additional information about
buffer for Campus Drive.
Developer said they are happy to accommodate a site visit so information can be expedited prior to
the next meeting. Rob noted that staff / OSAB would need to coordinate with City attorney and a
visit would require public notice.
Jessamine asked staff to provide information about cost implications for dedication of more
acreage. David asked about process and Rob suggested OSAB provide a list of questions and request
for more information. Staff and the applicant can pull together site visit, information about fiscal
impact, buffer zones and requirements for Campus Drive, etc. Staff would need the request for
additional information within one week and would aim for a site visit prior to the June OSAB
meeting.
Helen amended her motion and moved for more time to enable a site visit and collection of
additional information. Charles seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
9. Discussion Item: Opportunities to Improve the Property Acquisition Ranking Process.
Agenda item moved to next meeting.
10. Update Item: Marshall Fire Updates Related to Open Space.
Staff Update
Ember reviewed key points from the staff memo. Items described include:
- Bid out for fencing: In prior round some contractors said they were not aware, some said they
were too busy at the time but are now available. At least 6 companies interested; seems more
promising this time around.
- Property line mowing: Adjacent to homes adjacent to open space. Waiting for cost estimate.
Broken down to High/Medium/Low priority areas; high plus medium areas are equivalent to 14
miles of mowing. Ten -foot buffers. Some areas where access may not be possible. Ten -foot
width is best practice staff has heard regarding wildland-urban interface. Buffer width will
depend somewhat on contractor equipment. Will be putting out RFP in next month or so.
- Still working with FEMA to look at fence line documentation. Field consultations required to
verify all reported documentation. Currently looking at reimbursement options from FEMA.
- Ember forwarded public works email related to reseeding the pipeline project with open space
grass mix; will watch for how establishment occurs; usually takes a couple of tries to have good
coverage.
- Susan asked about testing water in Coal Creek post -fire? Last time staff asked there hadn't been
any; Ember will follow up.
Public Comments
