9. Discussion Item: Review and Revise Public Communication on Temporary Property
Line Mowing Efforts and Scope of Work for Wildfire Mitigation Efforts
Ember provided the draft buffer mowing statement, which will appear on the City's Facebook
page next week. This policy applies only to the 2022 mowing season, and not all properties will
be mowed, either because they are a low mitigation priority or not easily accessible to mowing
equipment. Those property owners will receive written notification that they are allowed to mow
their own 10-foot buffers. David and Susan made some suggestions to clarify the wording.
A wildfire mitigation plan was last done in 2012. The revised plan will change the focus to both
the pros and cons of mitigation efforts and resource management. Ember will send a rough draft
to the Tiger Team for review.
Rangers are pitching in on fire -recovery efforts by driving streets in fire -damaged neighborhoods
on weekends to check on contractor right-of-way violations.
FEMA has given its initial approval to the City's damage assessment. A big milestone, though
there are many more steps before final approval.
11.
