Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
May 16, 2022
Public Comment:
None is heard.
Discussion by Commissioners:
Burg says it meets enough of the criteria. It meets the social significance and is also old
enough.
Keller says he agrees and thinks it is a great candidate.
Haley says at first glance it does not look like the original built. The stonework was done
in the 1970s and the enclosure is not 50 years old, but with the strong social
significance and it being such a strong part of Louisville, it may be better to save it and
the historical portion of it. She says it is worth doing the HSA. She agrees it should be
landmarked.
Burg agrees with Haley. In Louisville, having this house remain there with the original
structure just benefits the city.
Keller says to him, the social significance outweighs the structural significance.
Keller moves and Burg seconds a motion to approve the request to find probable
cause for a landmark designation to allow for funding of a historic structure assessment
for 516 Lincoln Avenue. Motion passes unanimously by a roll call vote.
STAFF UPDATES
Updates Memo
Bauer says that we have had no alteration certificates or demolition reviews this past
month.
Landmark Plaque Ceremony Planning
Bauer says she ordered the plaques back in March. They have been paid for last week.
She is unsure on the ETA for their arrival. She asks the commissioners their opinion on
whether or not the plaque ceremony should be postponed until they arrive.
Haley says it would be fine to hold the ceremony in June. Having the plaques present is
important and less work for staff and the homeowners.
Burg says it is best to postpone until we have the plaques.
Haley asks how many plaques are being handed out.
Bauer says four. She mentions that the next two meetings will be hybrid meetings in
City Council Chambers.
COMMISSIONER UPDATES
None is heard.
ADJOURN
Burg moves and Keller seconds a motion to adjourn. Motion passes unanimously by a
voice vote. Meeting adjourns at 7:09 PM.
