V. Public Comments
None
VI. Trustee Informational Comments on Pertinent Items Not on the Agenda
A. Library Foundation Information (S. Nemechek)
The Library Foundation is the fundraising arm for the library. They are wonderful, supportive
volunteers who want to help the library's extra projects. They fund things like the MakerSpace,
Summer Reading Program, Read Baby, Read, collections, programming and other special
library activities.
The Foundation has requested a joint meeting with the LBOT to go over work roles of the two
groups. July 14th is the next scheduled meeting. This may be difficult for trustees to attend
because it is in the middle of the summer. LBOT has requested that the Foundation attend the
September meeting instead in anticipation of better attendance.
VII. New Business
A. Volunteer and Outreach Opportunities (S. Nemechek)
For the last meeting, staff Erin Owen put together a list of volunteer opportunities:
• First Friday Art Walks - The library will host a few months. Last week the library hosted
the Monarch High School Art Show and it was a lot of fun. There were 50-125 people in
the library at any given time during the event. It is a great opportunity to put out a table
and share what the library does. It is a nice way to engage with the community.
• There is a possibility for all the town boards to march in the Labor Day Parade.
• Summer Reading - Staff Kristen Bodine needs volunteers to help with the Kick Off day
to man carnival games.
• Louisville Farmers' Markets - We have a table on the library plaza where volunteers
could talk to visitors about the library. Sometimes the Foundation does used book sales
during this time. The library opens at 10:00 so there is usually a good amount of people
traffic.
• Book Donation Drive - Some board members volunteered at the Book Donation Drive in
April. There was a wonderful turnout and the library, the Foundation, and EcoCycle all
benefited enormously.
