Public Comment 6:35 P.M.
Ann Marie Jensen, Executive Director, East County Housing Coalition —on
housing crisis and affordable housing initiatives
■ Achieving 12% goal of affordable housing (by 2025) is not enough, and also
very ambitious.
■ Currently Louisville only has 3% affordable (273 units).
■ Is greater population density the answer? But without necessary
infrastructure, this density (v. sprawl) does not work. E.g., we need strong
local public transportation system.
■ What is the solution (aim of her comments)? Single-family homes are much
less energy and resource efficient; density can lead to greater affordable
housing and lower GHG emissions.
■ One example would be to create scorecard for development projects (e.g.,
accessibility to transit stops).
City of Louisville
City Manager's Office 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4533 (phone) www.louisvilleco.gov
