Sustainability Advisory Board Agenda June 15, 2022 7. Discussion Item: Bylaws Update 7:00 PM ■ Three issues to be determined: language concerning (i) Board members' shared responsibilities, (ii) chair selection, and (iii) concerning and Board member absences. Todd: summarized all three changes. ■ Kayla: suggested Board could also update bylaws for the following: a. secretary: if you want to add draft meeting minutes, have them sent out right after the meeting. b. subcommittees: there isn't much language about subcommittees; Kayla suggested, e.g., formalize an agreement on number of advertised subcommittees meetings per year c. LSAB coordinator: language on expectations of behavior and role and function ■ Todd: agrees with (a), but said we do not have enough experience with subcommittees to pursue (b) at this time and said that (c) does not feel like bylaw material (rather, roles and responsibilities). Others agreed. ■ Todd: worries that advertised subcommittee meetings, which can be informal and impromptu brainstorming, could waste the time of community members. ■ Todd: solicited support for these recommended changes —all present Board members seemed in agreement. ■ Kayla: confirmed that she will bring finalized Bylaw changes to July meeting for Board approval. 8. Discussion Item: LSAB Survey Responses, Group Agreements and Proposed Changes to Bylaws 7:30 PM ■ Kayla: explained that Spotlights will be included on City's monthly update, written by LSAB members. Tiffany proposed a number of topics; we have enough through October. ■ Kayla: asked that Board members at least commit through August. ■ Todd: asked if blurbs will be linked to LSAB news items or somewhere else to LSAB's page; he also asked if this is the right kind of content (events, quotes from residents, content articles, etc.) —we want to bring it to people's everyday lives (e.g., tips and tricks for water security issue). ■ Kayla: suggested that Board should want to focus on environmental education, which can be personalized, with opportunities for residents to take further action (e.g., additional resources). She also confirmed that all blurbs would have to be linked to a webpage. ■ Lev: suggested creating one Sustainability Spotlight page, so that it's the same link in the City's monthly update, which would take visitors to the same page ■ Kayla: asked for suggestions for other topics. ■ Lev: agreed to write Spotlight for August (due 7/15) on water security and responsible water use. 3
