City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 3, 2022 <br />Page 2 of 8 <br />John Denton, Centaurus High School Student, encouraged the Council to work on <br />environmental issues and to help address climate change. <br />Sherry Sommer, 910 Palisade Court, addressed the recent special election and thanked <br />everyone who voted. She stated residents can work with the developer to find a better <br />proposal for that property. <br />Josh Cooperman, 216 Griffith Street, stated the EPA has now downgraded the region's <br />air quality. This is caused by tailpipe emission from cars and landscaping equipment. He <br />urged the Council to reduce ozone levels and made suggestions including not mowing <br />non recreation turf and banning gas powered landscaping equipment. <br />Larry Donner stated he disagrees with reducing mowing as grass can be a fire danger. <br />APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA <br />Mayor Stolzmann asked for changes to the consent agenda; Councilmember Fahey <br />asked item B be moved to the regular agenda. Motion: Councilmember Dickinson moved <br />to approve the consent agenda as amended, seconded by Councilmember Most, Vote: <br />All in favor. <br />A. Approval of Bills <br />B. Approval of Older American's Month Proclamation moved to regular <br />agenda <br />C. Approval of Appointment to the Revitalization Commission <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE <br />AGENDA <br />Councilmember Brown stated he is attending remotely due to a positive COVID test. He <br />reminded people that COVID is still an issue and people should take it seriously. <br />Councilmember Leh reminded everyone the Fire District Election voting deadline is today <br />at 7 pm and he encouraged people to vote. <br />Mayor Stolzmann noted the City has a program for people to exchange gas -powered <br />lawn equipment for battery powered equipment and she encouraged people to take <br />advantage of it for better air quality. <br />She stated the City is currently working on inclusivity programs and people will see <br />information about that around town. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Jeff Durbin noted the packet includes the Q1 Commercial vacancy report. <br />
