DCI + LOUISVILLE DOWNTOWN ASSESSMENT
Louisville engaged in an interactive tour and dialogue between Louisville
Revitalization Commission (LRC), City of Louisville Leadership, Louisville Downtown
Stakeholders, and a team of Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) experts to identify
improvements that will make the most significant impacts towards the community
vision.
SMALL MOVES + QUICK WINS
There are several areas where behind the scenes investments will make a big
difference in building capacity, community engagement, and curating the built
environment for locals and visitors. The following list gathers ideas generated from
all of the feedback into categories for review and implementation.
1) IMPROVE THE EXPERIENCE
A primary idea for inspiring locals to utilize the downtown; support the small
business; and invest both time and money in creating a vital community is
accentuating a unique experience.
2) ENHANCE CONNECTIVITY
Continuing the idea of the experience, work to enhance connectivity and leverage
the proximity of this great downtown as a quick win for the community.
3) MANAGEMENT + GOVERNANCE
There is a consistent response from community members demonstrating
uncertainty in status, processes, timelines, and standards for community and
economic development.
4) COMMUNICATE THE VISION
A primary challenge in the community seems to be a gap in communication or
education about the vision, resources, and opportunities that are available to
support quality of life.
5) UNDERSTAND THE COMMUNITY PREFERENCES
As the LRC considers the larger project opportunities, it will be important to
understand the preferences and projects that the community would get behind.
6) SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS + PROPERTY OWNERS
Louisville has experienced a migration of retail and service businesses from the LRC
plan areas to nearby communities, creating leakage.
LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION COMMISSION CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
DOWNTOWN COLORADO, INC. www.downtowncoloradoinc.org PA23
