BATCH PLANTS CONT'D APPROVAL CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT COUNCIL COMMENTS & COMMITTEE REPORTS APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR OFFICERS ON DUTY Minutes - page 8 September 2, 1980 information to Council at the next meeting. Councilman Domenico moved that the City Administrator's report be accepted and placed on file. Seconded by Council- man Meier. Motion carried. Councilman Fauson stated that he would like the City Attorney to supply Coun- cil with the options they have on appointing a new Mayor. Attorney Joss reported that Council has the option to 1. Appoint a new Mayor from Council or go outside the Council. 2. Call a special election for Mayor. Councilman Fauson stated that he would like to hold a special election since there is more then one year left on the Mayor's term. Councilman Carnival felt that Attorney Joss should review all possibilities and present to Council at the next meeting. After comments Councilman DelPizzo moved that the Mayor Pro-tern, Lawrence Caranci, assume the responsiblity as the Mayor for the remainder of the term. Seconded by Councilman Domenico. Voting was done by secret ballot with the following results. FOR CARANCI APPOINTMENT - 4 AGAINST CARANCI APPOINTMENT - 2 Motion carried, Mayor CAranci will serve until the next Mayor is elected and takes office in 1982. Councilman DelPizzo requested that the Police Department have officers on duty at all t~mes on site of special events. Chief Leesman stated that they were all on duty, but are not kept at the site continuously. Councilman Meier stated that he would like to see the carnival discontinued in the City.
