Seconded by Council- <br />man Meier. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Fauson stated that he would <br />like the City Attorney to supply Coun- <br />cil with the options they have on <br />appointing a new Mayor. <br /> <br />Attorney Joss reported that Council <br />has the option to <br />1. Appoint a new Mayor from Council <br />or go outside the Council. <br /> <br />2. Call a special election for Mayor. <br /> <br />Councilman Fauson stated that he would <br />like to hold a special election since <br />there is more then one year left on <br />the Mayor's term. <br /> <br />Councilman Carnival felt that Attorney <br />Joss should review all possibilities <br />and present to Council at the next <br />meeting. <br /> <br />After comments Councilman DelPizzo moved <br />that the Mayor Pro-tern, Lawrence Caranci, <br />assume the responsiblity as the Mayor <br />for the remainder of the term. <br />Seconded by Councilman Domenico. <br /> <br />Voting was done by secret ballot with <br />the following results. <br /> <br />FOR CARANCI APPOINTMENT - 4 <br /> <br />AGAINST CARANCI APPOINTMENT - 2 <br /> <br />Motion carried, Mayor CAranci will serve <br />until the next Mayor is elected and takes <br />office in 1982. <br /> <br />Councilman DelPizzo requested that the <br />Police Department have officers on duty <br />at all t~mes on site of special events. <br />Chief Leesman stated that they were <br />all on duty, but are not kept at the <br />site continuously. <br /> <br />Councilman Meier stated that he would <br />like to see the carnival discontinued <br /> <br />in the City. <br />
