Minutes Page -2- August 5, 1980 AUDIENCE COMMENTS JIGGS BERARDI Mr. Berardi stated that he had been informed that a letter was being cir- culated by Boulder County Commissioner Wally Toevs, soliciting money for the up-coming elect~ion in November. In this same letter Mr. Toevs bQg~ted that he cast the deciding vote to block the enlarging of the Superior Interchange. He prevailed upon those in the audience and mayor and council to remember these facts when they' go to the polls in November. CITY ATTORNEYS REPORT ORDINANCE NO. 689 SPEED LIMIT - SOUTH BOULDER ROAD Attorney Joss read the Ordinance by title only - second reading and had been published in full in the Louisville Times on July 16, 1980 and the Public Hearing was published in the Louisville Times on July 23, and July 30, 1980. Mayor Waschak opened the public hearing and asked if there was anyone present in support of Ordinance #689. None. Any persons op- posed to Ordinance #689. No staff remarks. COUNCIL COMMENTS ORDINANCE NO. 689 COUNCILMAN CARANCI Councilman Caranci asked of City Engineer Blanchard if he had made additional studies on South Boulder Road at the various inter- sections? City Engineer Blanchard advised the pedestrian studies had been made and each of the Councilmen had a copy. The traffic studies had been started but were. not. completed. COUNCILMAN MEIER Councilman Meier reported he was not satis- fied with the Ordinance in its present form. It was opinion that a traffic light would be much more ef:fective for the flow of traffic than the reduced speed limit. COUNCILMAN DOMENICO Councilman DomEmico stated his thought was that the speed limit on South Boulder Road should be 25 MPH. COUNCILMAN DEL PIZZO Councilman DelPizzo asked if the 30MPH speed limit was pending until the in- stallation of the traffic light, and after the traffic light is installed the speed limit would be 40 MPH.
