<br />Minutes Page -2- <br />August 5, 1980 <br /> <br />AUDIENCE COMMENTS <br />JIGGS BERARDI <br /> <br />Mr. Berardi stated that he had been <br />informed that a letter was being cir- <br />culated by Boulder County Commissioner <br />Wally Toevs, soliciting money for the <br />up-coming elect~ion in November. In <br />this same letter Mr. Toevs bQg~ted that <br />he cast the deciding vote to block the <br />enlarging of the Superior Interchange. <br />He prevailed upon those in the audience <br />and mayor and council to remember these <br />facts when they' go to the polls in November. <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEYS REPORT <br />ORDINANCE NO. 689 <br />SPEED LIMIT - SOUTH <br />BOULDER ROAD <br /> <br />Attorney Joss read the Ordinance by title <br />only - second reading and had been published <br />in full in the Louisville Times on July 16, <br />1980 and the Public Hearing was published <br />in the Louisville Times on July 23, and <br />July 30, 1980. <br />Mayor Waschak opened the public hearing and <br />asked if there was anyone present in support <br />of Ordinance #689. None. Any persons op- <br />posed to Ordinance #689. No staff remarks. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />ORDINANCE NO. 689 <br />COUNCILMAN CARANCI <br /> <br />Councilman Caranci asked of City Engineer <br />Blanchard if he had made additional studies <br />on South Boulder Road at the various inter- <br />sections? City Engineer Blanchard advised <br />the pedestrian studies had been made and <br />each of the Councilmen had a copy. The <br />traffic studies had been started but were. <br />not. completed. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN MEIER <br /> <br />Councilman Meier reported he was not satis- <br />fied with the Ordinance in its present form. <br />It was opinion that a traffic light would <br />be much more ef:fective for the flow of <br />traffic than the reduced speed limit. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN DOMENICO <br /> <br />Councilman DomEmico stated his thought <br />was that the speed limit on South Boulder <br />Road should be 25 MPH. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN DEL PIZZO <br /> <br />Councilman DelPizzo asked if the 30MPH <br />speed limit was pending until the in- <br />stallation of the traffic light, and after <br />the traffic light is installed the speed <br />limit would be 40 MPH. <br />
