<br />COUNCIL COMMENTS CONTINUED <br /> <br />HIRING PRACTICES <br /> <br />STEINBAUGH STORE <br /> <br />AQUARIUS <br /> <br />CONDOLENCES <br /> <br />WATER METER PROBLEMS <br /> <br />Minutes - page 7 <br />October 16, 1979 <br /> <br />Councilman Meier stated that he has re- <br />ceived questions about hiring practices <br />in the City. He requested that staff <br />review the guidelines and make changes <br />necessary regarding hiring of relations <br />and discrimination. <br />Mr. Wurl stated that he has reviewed the <br />guidelines several times and the only <br />item not included is that the City will <br />not hire relations or discriminate. <br />Mr. Wurl included that in small towns <br />it is v,ery difficult not to hire someone <br />who is related in some way. <br /> <br />Mayor Waschak reported that Mr. Steinbaugh <br />is interested in selling his store in the <br />amount of $250,000. <br /> <br />Mayor Waschak asked if Council would be <br />interested in meeting with the Aquarius <br />group again about their land. <br />Councilman Berry stated that at the last <br />offer is was stated that it would be the <br />final offer, and did not feel any reason <br />to change that. <br />Councilman DelPizzo stated that he thought <br />there 'W'as a misunderstanding about the <br />interest to be paid. <br />Mr. Wurl stated that the City has explained <br />this to them, that they would not be losing <br />any money; and it was just the use of <br />different wording that they are having <br />trouble with. <br /> <br />Councilman Kilker asked if the City sent <br />flowers to Mr. McNulty family. <br />Mr. Wurl stated that it had beencbne. <br /> <br />Councilman DelPizzo asked how the City <br />accounts for such big discrepancies in water <br />bills. <br />Mr. Wurl stated that one reason is the extra <br />water usage, a possible meter broken, or <br />maybe a misreading. He recommended that <br />any person ~rJ'ith this problem should contact <br />the water department. <br /> <br />Councilman Caranci moved that the Council <br />comments and committee reports be approved <br />and placed on file. Seocnded by Councilman <br />Kilker. Motion carried. <br />
