ORDINANCE NO. 637 & 638
PUBLIC HEARING

OPPOSING

Minutes - page 7
March 20, 1979

that the City and County of Denver use
emergency clauses in about 99% of their
ordinances.

Mr. McKee asked if he could retract the
petition and resubmit it upon your final
passage.

Mr. Joss stated that he felt the petition
could be resubmitted, but that depended on
the action taken by Council.

Mr. McKee asked why this is an emergency.

Mayor Waschak requested that Mr. McKee ask
his questions and that staff would respond
after the hearing.

Mr. McKee asked for a specific answer on
each of the five paragraphs stated in the
emergency clause.
Mr. McKee stated that each of the five
reasons given for an emergency don't hold
water, each and everyone is a joke.
He stated that he would like a clear under-
standing why the five reasons had to be
put in and deprive the people their rights
to an election.

John Leary 1116 Lincoln Ave.

1.
