January 16, 1979
Minutes - page 12

ORDINANCE NO. 623
PUBLIC HEARING
CONTINUED

Porter: In order to permit your annex-
ation were there any requirements made
of you as the owners of this property?

Caranci: Well, we first we had to give
up 12% of our land which we did as you
can see in the green area there by the
cemetery which is approximatly 6.4 acres.

Porter: Did you have any choice as to
what portion of your property you would
dedicate?

Caranci: No, this is what they told us
we wanted.

Porter: Okay. Were there any other
dedications or advances to the City?

Caranci: We gave up 29 shares, I believe
it was 29 shares, of Goodhue water. We
gave up the water well that is on the
property to meet their annexation.

Porter: Do you have an awareness of what
the present uses that can be made on the
property are?

Caranci: Well, like you stated, it's under
agricultural. We can raise crops on it
and we're not farmers. Right now the crops
don't even pay the taxes; we could go into
animal production, which again we are not
cattle breeders. We could subdivide it
into 5 acre lots, it's going to be prohibited
as far as house go, so other then a cemetery
or other uses of this type, we don't have
use for it. We're land locked is what we
are. As property owners we're land locked.

Porter: Mr. Caranci, if the property re-
mained with an agricultural zoning desig-
nation as it presently exists, what do you
believe you and your fellow owners have re-
ceived from the City of Louisville by vir-
tue of annexing your property to the City
of Louisville.

Caranci: Absolutely nothing. We could have
stayed in the County and kept our water
and the land. Very flatly, that's it be-
cause it is not feasible to give away land
and give away you water rights to stay
agricultural.
