LEauisi'uyi 111e Department of Planning and Building Safety
L
C01.01".%P -SIN E. 749 Main Street # Louisville CO 80027 # 303.335.4592 # www.LouisvilleCO.aov
Dino stated that since Xcel is already implementing old infrastructure in the Marshall Fire burn area where they
know we have passed the 2021 IECC for residential and are still choosing to implement old infrastructure.
Betshold-indicated that Xcel has told the City of Louisville that they are planning on providing infrastructure to
allow the ability for 320 Amp service for each home.
Geise said that without the infrastructure in place in Colorado, the cost of electric will be more expensive if
Colorado has to pay for electricity outside the state in order to meet the demand here if we require all electric.
Dino expressed that he has trying to get Xcel Energy to provide temporary power on site for the rebuild and the
contractors working for Xcel have told him that Xcel has already issued purchase orders for transformers that do
not meet the requirements that Betshold said they will provide. Dino further expressed that he does not believe
that Xcel will provide the infrastructure until it fails.
Betshold said she would work with City staff on the issue.
Schlaepfer stated Xcel hasn't been given any directive from that shows they will require all -electric.
Geise asked for clarification of why one business owner who owns four restaurants would be given more of a
break than another who has a large warehouse with distribution, even if the square footage is the same for
both.
McCollough responded that with their policy research that the technology for restaurants to use all -electric is
not readily available or cost effective, so that industrial and restaurants would not be as strict as other types.
Geise expressed concern that the building requirements cannot be sustained or that an owner would need all
available space to meet solar requirements and standards. McCollough agreed that the Appendix CC
implementation would be difficult to meet.
