LEauisi'uyi 111e Department of Planning and Building Safety
L
C01.01".%P -SIN E. 749 Main Street # Louisville CO 80027 # 303.335.4592 # www.LouisvilleCO.aov
Dino expressed concern over the residential implementation and disagreed with the choice to implement it as it
was decided. Dino further explained that the document that was presented to City Council in 2021 as a
collaboration between the BCBOA and City staff did not represent their ideas. He explained that he does not
support this code adoption because the infrastructure is not there, Louisville has already lost some businesses to
adjacent communities.
Dino suggested the group take a straw vote as whether or not they would approve of the general adoption of
the 2021 IECC for Commercial and that if the City adopts the code it is against the recommendation of the
BCBOA. Knapp seconded.
Berry asked if there were any votes for recommending the 2021 IECC Commercial code. Gatto voted yes with
recommendations. Berry asked which members vote to not adopt any of it. Berry and Dino voted no. Giese
would like to see the rest of the slides.
Lane interrupted to clarify that the purpose of the meeting wasn't to have any official vote but just to present
information to the Board.
Berry clarified that it was just a straw poll to understand which members agree with the overall adoption of any
portion of the IECC commercial code. Berry added that with reference to the 2021 IECC residential code
adoption in October of 2021 that Appendix RC was never given to the Board for consideration and was a major
change but was presented as if the BCBOA had agreed with it so their trust for the process is damaged and that
their comments are accurately presented to City Council.
Dino added that when City Council adopted Appendix RC that it created a moratorium on new building permits
for over a month and if the BCBOA had been asked in their an advisory role they could have advised as to how to
adopt it without issues.
Berry noted that he has several projects that are waiting on Xcel equipment. Giese also added he has a project
where he has been waiting on Xcel for six months on a meter set for a commercial building.
