Landfill services for the Operations Div for the disposal of soils $41,760.00
The Operations Division recommends the approval of Landfill services for the
disposal of the spoils. The Operations Division accumulates waste from operational
activities such as street sweeping, ditch cleaning, water breaks, stormwater cleanup,
and asphalt patches. The Operations Division transports the waste to the landfill.
9/1/2022 2022192 ProForce Law Enforcement Taser and bola wrap supplies $39,318.70
For the Police Dept.
9/1/2022 2022194 Cascade Industries Limited Community Park Irrigation Pump Control Panel $71,736.00
Community Park's irrigation mainline is a large pipe, 4" and 6" in diameter. Often
when an irrigation pump system this large is energized (or turned on) the force of the
water flow can create small movements in the system and the pipe can shift.
Unfortunately, any slight movement is now causing a failure; PVC is rigid hard plastic
that after time becomes brittle. In the summer of 2021, this reached a point where
failures were occurring every time the system was energized. When a failure occurred,
the system was shut down, repaired and then reenergized. When reenergized this often
trigged an additional break, thus mainline repairs were continuous thoughout the
season. When the mainline is being repaired large areas of the park cannot be
watered which created a challenge in sustaining healthy green turf throughout the
season. The bid also includes repairs that may occur on the existing system throughout
the installation process. This project will improve the turf conditions and significantly
reduce the amount of staff time required to address these frequent failures.
9/9/2022 2022198 Tank Equipment Inc. HBWTP Replacement Chemical Tanks $57,713.00
On the evening of Wednesday, 7/13/22, an electrical fire occurred in the
chemical building at the Howard Berry Water Treatment Plant caused by a
portable battery charger/jumper that overheated. The heat from this fire
caused damage to many items in the chemical building including two of the
chemical storage tanks. The sodium hydroxide tank was in closest proximity to
the fire and sustained significant damage to the top and south side of the tank.
The Sodium Chlorite tank was also near the fire and had some heat damage and
warping on the external sidewall but internal tank is current holding and not
leaking. Temporary totes of Sodium Hydroxide were ordered to get the plant
back up and running and a temporary 4,000 gallon tank was delivered for larger
bulk storage while permanent replacement tanks are ordered. Staff is working
on the insurance claim to cover some of these costs.
26
