However, they want to be sensitive to families who lost their homes and also
don't want to bombard donors with many requests. There is an option on Colorado Gives to
earmark funds specifically for materials lost in the fire. Sharon shared that $8000 worth of
materials were lost or damaged. They have received anonymous donations and Vanguard,
who holds the endowment for the Foundation, has donated $5000.
The Foundation also revised by-laws. Now they can move funds that were collected
for a specific purpose into the general fund if it is necessary to do so. They always want to
honor the intention of the donor, but this gives some flexibility should the need arise.
The Foundation really needs more Board members. Fundraising is the goal and people
who are literate in finances, fundraising, marketing and website management are needed.
Ideas for advertising and recruitment include a banner with a QR code linked to
Colorado Gives, Daily Camera volunteer opportunities section, social media presence that
could be maintained by the Youth Leadership Board and reaching out to the Senior Center.
