SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL WORK PLANNING
DATE: DECEMBER 12, 2022 PAGE 3 OF 4
planning session. The work plan also identifies items that may need additional funding
to implement beyond the currently adopted budget (not currently captured in the draft).
In between this meeting and the Jan. 17 meeting, Councilmembers will complete an
online survey to capture preliminary prioritization on the proposed work plan items.
Based on the feedback at this meeting and the survey, staff will refine the estimates of
Council time necessary to address each issue and optimal time for consideration. Staff
will provide a recommendation for prioritization and the type of Council communication
or discussion necessary for each item.
When complete, the final Work Plan format identifies the budget program area for each
item and alignment with the City's Strategic Plan.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Many of the items on the work plan will have a budget impact — some of which may be
budgeted and others that may have a future budget impact. The City has retained J.
Ramos Associates, LLC to assist with the work planning process at a cost not to exceed
$2,500.
PROGRAM/SUB-PROGRAM IMPACT:
The work planning process incorporates the work of City Council over the course of the
year, and therefore impacts all program and subprogram areas.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends City Council discuss the potential items for the 2023 Work Plan and
make a determination about what should be included for prioritization at the
January 17, 2023 meeting.
ATTACHMENTS:
1) Detailed agenda
2) Draft 2023 Work Plan
3) Board/Commission Recommendations and Past Items
4) 2022 Work Plan
5) Public Comments
6) Presentation
CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
9
