SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL VACANCY <br />DATE: DECEMBER 14, 2022 PAGE 2 OF 2 <br />Council consider advertising for the vacancy as soon as possible and closing it in early <br />to mid -January to allow interested applicants time to gauge their interest and complete <br />the application. In January, the Council can review the applications and interview the <br />applicants and hope for an appointment in late January or early February. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />None at this time. <br />PROGRAM/SUB-PROGRAM IMPACT: <br />The Governance and Administration Subprogram's goal is to ensure inclusive, <br />responsive, transparent, friendly, fiscally responsible, effective, and efficient <br />governance, administration, and support. Filling the vacancy on the City Council helps <br />ensure that happens. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the Council discuss the vacancy process and provide direction <br />regarding the application process for either a mayoral or council vacancy; approve the <br />application questions or appoint a committee to write new questions; and determine a <br />timeline to fill the vacancy. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1.
