Sustainability Advisory Board
Minutes
November 16, 2022
Discussion Item — 2023 LSAB Work Plan Ideas
Kayla started the topic by explaining the 2023 sustainability budget items and
opened the conversation up to the group to discuss work plan ideas. Kayla will
take these ideas and incorporate them into a draft work plan that will be
discussed at the December meeting. The work plan ideas need to align with the
Sustainability Action Plan. A majority of the plan is in progress or completed, but
42% has not been started. There are a number of goals that are a good fit for
LSAB to support in 2023.
Public Comment
John Cowley: John is interested in evaluating the barriers to renewable energy.
He asked what the City and board can do to promote solar farms. Solar gardens are not limited to the same county as Xcel customer.
LSAB Discussion
Todd would like to consider using some of the $10,000 for lawn equipment
electrification for the commercial sector. He added that the $16,000 for
residential electrification incentives could be stacked on other existing incentives.
He recommended the City consider homeowner workshops that explained how to
make homes more efficient.
Kayla mentioned that staff will develop the municipal pilots based on feedback
from an employee survey. The municipal pilots, events and office supply line
items will not require LSAB input. Lev mentioned that a xeriscape demonstration
garden on city property would be a good idea for a municipal pilot. Kayla agreed
that this is the type of project the line item could fund. Kayla added that EcoTober
will happen at Community Park in Louisville next year and the event will be more
adult focused based on feedback. Bluegrass music and a beer garden are being
considered.
Megan asked that the Sustainability Action Plan tracker be sent to the group so
they can evaluate the goals that have not been started. Deb asked to also
