Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
January 30, 2023
The December minutes were approved by all members present at the December
meeting. The new members, Anderson, Beauchamp, and Dalia, recuse
themselves from voting.
Public Comments
None is heard.
Discussion / Direction
2023 HPC Work Plan: Part 2 of 2
The new commissioners introduce themselves to the commission.
Brackett Hogstad mentions the materials in staff's agenda packet. She presents
to the commission a description of the list of projects, prioritization of each
project, and how these will fulfill the necessary roles. Staff will put together a
quarterly check -in to give updates on projects.
Haley asks the commission what they should prioritize on this list. She asks if the
DBA write ups is something Commissioner Dunlap wants to continue.
Dunlap gives background on the Downtown Business Association (DBA) and
says he is still interested in continuing it.
Haley goes through items that are already being done and making sure they will
be continued. We will have Dunlap continue with DBA and possibly have
someone partner with him on it. She brings up the coloring book,
Burg explains that there was a subcommittee formed a year ago to head the
coloring book project. She explains the background of the coloring book for the
new commissioners.
Dunlap says it would be wonderful if we had this ready by the time the farmers
market was happening in the summer.
Haley asks when they think the drawings will be finished for the coloring book.
Burg says she does not think it will be ready by the end of this quarter. The goal
is for it to be finished in the next quarter.
Dunlap brings up the conversation of how procedurally the commissioners can
communicate via email.
Brackett Hogstad asks to table that conversation and possibly have an agenda
item for that discussion topic at the next meeting so this meeting can be focused
on projects and timelines.
Haley says we will table the coloring book for quarter one and two. She brings up
the need to prioritize social media. That is something she thinks could be done in
quarter one.
Burg agrees and thinks it is a missed opportunity to not use it. She asks if it is
possible to have their own social media platform.
Brackett Hogstad says it is possible to have our own but we would need
someone to manage it and work with her on writing the blurbs.
Haley says she is willing to be on that subcommittee.
Beauchamp agrees that he would be willing to be on that subcommittee as well.
5
