Ci*ty{)f LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION
Louisv111e COMMISSION
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
SUBJECT: STAFF UPDATES
DATE: FEBRUARY 8, 2023
PRESENTED BY: AUSTIN BROWN, ECONOMIC VITALITY SPECIALIST
SUMMARY:
In the following, staff provides business and property updates related to activity within
the Highway 42 Urban Renewal Area.
Staffing Update
The City of Louisville reposted the Economic Vitality Manager position in December. We
have reviewed the applications and are scheduling interviews. The first round of
interviews will be in early to mid -February. It's anticipated that there will be a second
round of interviews and an "open house" event for the finalists.
City Council Update
Interviews for the vacant Ward 3 Council seat took place on January 31. Louisville
Councilmember Kyle Brown was selected to fill the currently vacant House District 12
seat vacated by Former State Representative Tracy Bernett in January. Councilmember
Brown submitted his formal resignation from Louisville City Council on January 30,
effective at 5 PM on January 31. Councilmember Brown's resignation creates a second
Ward 3 vacancy. It is expected that both Ward 3 seats will be filled from the group of
candidates that was interviewed on January 31.
LRC Vacancy Update
The City received two applications for the vacant LRC position. It is anticipated that City
Council will select an applicant to fill the LRC vacancy during its February 7 meeting.
Additional information on this appointment will be available in the February 7 City
Council packet.
DRCOG TIP Grant
The City of Louisville was awarded a Denver Regional Council of Governments
(DRCOG) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) the Future 42 project. The
$3,200,000 grant covers 40% of the $8,000,000 total project cost. CDOT is also
contributing $4,000,000 to the project. The remaining $800,000 will be split between
Louisville and Lafayette.
The City also submitted a new application for another DRCOG TIP grant for
construction of the South Street underpass. The application requested up to 80% of the
$9,000,000 project. If approved, the City of Louisville would receive up to $7,200,000 for
construction of the South Street Underpass.
Agenda Packet P. 9
