A photo of the Bug Dust Pool Hall from circa 1948-1953 is seen here, along with a closer view <br />taken from one of the photos. <br />Illegal Gambling Taking Place at John Madonna's Bug Dust Pool Hall; Smaldone Brothers' <br />Organized Crime Activities <br />John Madonna, Jr. (1918-2022) was born in Louisville, Colorado to parents (John Madonna, Sr. <br />and Marguerite Perna) who had been born in Italy. They were drawn to work opportunities in <br />Colorado, with John Sr. arriving in the late 1800s and Marguerite immigrating in 1908. They <br />married in 1910 in southern Colorado, where John Sr. worked as a coal miner. In 1913, they <br />moved to Louisville, and John Sr. continued to be a coal miner. <br />John Jr. was one of at least 10 children in this branch of the Madonna family that settled in <br />Louisville. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1936, as did his wife, Lula Belle Fletcher. <br />He served in the Navy in World War II.
