C.D. HEARING CONTID Mr. Lundberg stated that homeowners on the North side of So. Boulder Rd. re- quested an overpass to walk to avoid traffic hazard to the park and downtown area by children and citizens in that area, estimated cost $400,000. It was noted that the request was not for children walking to school as they are bused, but for waling to area within the old part of the City. Discussion was also held on the rest rooms in the Memory Sq. Park area. Councilman DelPizzo stated that he was in favor of them and could be kept up. Mr. Helart stated that the restrooms at Cottonwood Park are unoperable most of the time due to vandalism and it would not benefit anyone to have them built and not usable. Sidewalk at the so. side of Memory Sq. Park was discussed. It was noted that many older people walking east on that street must walk through the park instead of direct along the street as with the old sidewalk. Mr. Helart noted that when the new side walks were being discussed a comment was made to that effect and the extra distance to walk through the parks is about 10 feet. Mr. Lundberg noted his feelings toward the sidewalk was also for persons who go to church and get out on the passenger side, they do not want to step in snow, mud, etc. It was noted that there is usually a right of way and not sidewalk next to the curb anyway and many times it is not kept up. Mr. Wurl informed Council that on the City request there was a request for $1,000 for street overlay and $1,000 for water main distributions, along with the storm sewer request. Mr. Lundberg stated that water main dis- tribution was a line item in the pre- vious year's application and there would be no problem to carry it over. Mr. Wurl asked about the funding for acquisition of land for the 30 unit elderly housing project. ~-~
