<br />they would like to go swimming and they <br />can't and she would like to have them con- <br />sider some evening hours for them. <br />Mr. Helart then suggested adjustdmg Tuesday <br />and Thursday for public swimming from <br />5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. as well as the already <br />scheduled Wednesdays and Fridays and see <br />which we get the most response from then <br />adjust the schedule to the maximum response. <br />He suggested Saturday morning availablity <br />for public swim. <br />Councilman DelPizzo expressed that he too <br />would like to have the pool open at night from <br />5:00 till 8:00 P.M. for the public. He also <br />wished to know if the water could be heated <br />100 more than what it is presently. He:.:_ <br />thought it was a little chilly last year in tr <br />the evenings. <br />Mr. Helart said it is possible that it could <br />be, but the reason the temperature of the <br />water was maintained at a lesser degree was tc <br />hold down the algae growth, which allowed then <br />to reduce the chemical input into the pool anc <br />makes it a more pleasant place to swim. Any <br />temperature over 730 would form algae on the <br />walls of the pool. They are going to experi- <br />ment with a new process which would eliminate <br />the lower temperature control. Mr. Helart <br />agreed to set up a new schedule for more hour~ <br />in the evenings for public swimming, and will <br />report back in mid-July to let Council know <br />how it is working. <br />Councilman Domenico arrived at 8:02 P.M. and <br />consequently had not heard the opening ques- <br />tions by other Council members, so his <br />questions were basically those of the other <br />member s . <br />Councilman Caranci questioned Mr. Helart con- <br />cerning a bill for $234.90 for T-Shirts, and <br />wished to know if these were for the swim tero <br />or something? <br />Mr. Helart replied these were for the swim <br />team and the staff - the Commission buys them <br />and they are reimbursed by the staff and swim <br />team. <br />Mayor Waschak thanked Mr. Helart for coming t <br />answer the questions of Council and his coop- <br />eration. <br />Mr. Helart stated Council would have a copy 0 <br />the revised schedule within a week or so. <br />Also, there would be a budget over run on <br />salaries if pool hours were extended. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
