L Cityof <br />Louisville <br />Memorandum <br />To: Mayor and City Council <br />From: Historical Commission <br />Date: August 11, 2009 <br />Re: 2008 Accomplishments and 2009 Work Plan <br />2008 Accomplishments <br />The Historical Commission had another busy year in 2008 -2009. A list of the <br />Commission's activities and accomplishments is below for your review. <br />Fund raising activities including: <br />o Fall Festival Silent Auction <br />o 2008 Holiday Home Tour (bringing over 300 people to Old Town/ <br />downtown) <br />o Museum sales of holiday ornaments and of books and DVDs relating <br />to Louisville history <br />o Successful solicitation of generous sponsorships for two memorial <br />benches for the Museum Campus <br />o Membership Drive (drawing $6,360 in 2008) <br />o Receipt of over $1000 in monetary donations in 2008 to be used to <br />help preserve the history of Louisville <br />Outreach /Educational Activities <br />o Members began an Oral History project to interview residents of <br />Louisville for the Historical Museum <br />o Members assisted with (and made Italian pizzelles for) the Taste of <br />Louisville Open House at the Museum <br />o Members manned a booth and spoke with community members at La <br />Festa <br />o Members assisted with the Parade of Lights Open House at the <br />Museum <br />Historical Society Membership Drive <br />o Current individual /family and complimentary members: 688 <br />o New individual /family members in 2008 -2009: 185 <br />o Current Business Sponsors: 22 <br />o New Business Sponsors in 2008 -2009: 9 <br />Hosted the annual Historical Society Program entitled: Reconstructing Italy in <br />Colorado: Life Stories to Learn From (May 2009) with a speaker from the <br />Colorado Historical Society; <br />Participated in decisions to accept into the Museum's collection many <br />historically significant items such as mining implements, handmade tools, <br />
