Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 15, 2023 <br />Page 2of5 <br />Public Hearing <br />929 Parkview Street: Landmark, Alteration Certificate, Grant, and Loan <br />Staff Presentation — Landmark: <br />Brackett Hogstad begins her presentation by showing the location of the <br />property and reviews the historic as well as the current conditions. <br />The following is the landmark criteria: <br />Landmarks must be at least 50 years old. <br />• It is 71 years old and was constructed in 1952 <br />Landmarks must meet one or more of the criteria for architectural, social or <br />geographic/environmental significance. <br />• Architectural: Minimal Ranch style <br />o This exemplifies specific elements of an architectural style or period <br />• Social: Madonna family (historic and current) <br />o Association with a notable person <br />Landmarks should meet one or more criteria for physical integrity <br />• Location and form maintained <br />o Remains in its original location <br />Siding and ornamentation changed <br />o Retains original design features, materials, and/or character <br />o Has been accurately reconstructed or restored based on historic <br />documentation <br />Staff Recommendation — Landmark: <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 1, Series 2023, recommending <br />approval of 929 Parkview as a Historic Landmark. <br />Staff recommends that the house be named for the Madonna family. <br />Staff Presentation — Alteration Certificate: <br />Brackett Hogstad shows a three-part breakdown of the request which includes <br />restoration, changes to the rear, and changes to the carport addition. <br />The restoration would include the siding, window size/design, and the art deco <br />front porch. <br />The carport was built in the 1980s and the changes would include the windows <br />and siding. <br />She then shows the rear elevation. This is clearly differentiated from the old and <br />the changes would affect the existing non -historic siding and windows. Staff find <br />that this rear would be minimally changed. <br />3 <br />
