TYPE OF DATA REPORTED
What is reported in this survey is primarily mean values to question items scaled on a 1 to 9
scale. In addition to the many scaled question items on City services, issues, and policies, each
respondent was requested to identify his/her gender, age, education level, years of residence in
Louisville, income level, and size of household.
These six key social -economic indicators, along with the pooled mean scores for each question
item, constitute the basis of the comparative analysis of responses discussed in the report. The
response rate to these social -economic background questions was quite high, as can be seen in
the table below. For instance, only 6.4% of the 345 returned questionnaires did not have the
respondent's education level entered. Indications are that the respondents took an active interest
in the questionnaire, and were willing to be forthcoming about background information on
themselves. A more detailed analysis of response patterns, by each of the six social -economic
indicators, is provided in Part II of this report.
The statistical analysis used to evaluate these six social -economic indicators involved dividing
each indicator into sub -categories. The sub -categories are shown in Table 5.
Gender
Male
Female
N = 141
N = 183
Did not give info.
