HELPFUL HOUSING DECISIONS <br />The next open ended question asked what possible housing policy decisions by the City of <br />Louisville and the Louisville Housing Authority would be most helpful. Over half of these responses <br />mentioned need for housing assistance or building of low cost housing, and in these words: <br />More affordable rental units <br />Continuing to build affordable housing <br />Affordable housing at a cost that is reasonable should be available in the area. <br />• I don't understand what kind of influence these agencies have. I would like to see more low- <br />income housing and affordable homes for first-time buyers. <br />• I feel that it is essential that the town have a balanced mix of housing opportunities. <br />• Perhaps some kind of discounts offered to people employed in Louisville. <br />• To build housing that is roomy, affordable, and pleasant for the residents in the income range <br />of $12,000-$24,000 a year. These people make up the majority of our employee population. <br />One -eighth of the employers did not have any suggestions for the City or the Housing <br />Authority. Over one-fourth raised other concerns, such as what they perceived as high fees in the <br />city, and the possibility of housing discounts for Louisville residents. With the weighted response <br />the figures are slightly altered, but not their ranking.
