OPINIONS
The third open ended question for employers asked for any opinions they might have which
were not addressed in the questionnaire. Two-thirds of the respondents offered no opinions, while
almost one-third came forward with a variety of suggestions, most of which recited the need for more
low cost housing, for example:
Louisville is beginning to price itself out of the market for first time buyers. New
construction homes cannot be purchased for under $120,000, which is beyond the means of
most buyers.
You can purchase the same home in Longmont, Lafayette, or Broomfield for 20% less than a
comparable one in Louisville. Fees are a large percentage of that number.
I moved from Boulder to Louisville because I could not afford a home in Boulder. I would
hope that my children would be able to afford to live in Louisville when they are ready to
buy their first home.
• I find that our lower -paid employees live in Lafayette or Denver because they are unable to
afford living in Louisville.
Weighted answers to this question increased the proportion of "no answer" to 79 percent,
while 14 percent supported more housing, and 7 percent saw other alternatives.
TABLE V
Any opinions they might have which were not addressed in the
questionnaire:
No Answer
Expand Housing
Other
Percentage of (24) Percentage of
Employees as (24) Employers
Individuals as weighted on basis
of employees for
specific finn
67% 79%
29% 14%
4% 7%
8
