Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
June 14, 2023
Michiko pointed out the box for possible management goals on the sample form on the document, and
said it would be good for people to take notes about this when they are on the August property tour.
Michiko asked about crafting a simple narrative statement for each visited parcel. Laura and other
board members said that the property profiles maintained by staff already have some language for the
parcels, but that if something is observed that isn't already on the profile, board members should give
that feedback.
Jessamine said that we should ask the City Council and Boulder County, the recipients of the results of
this process, for feedback about the most helpful format for delivering this document. Laura suggested
that she and Michiko could meet with a few Council members and Jessamine suggested that Ember
could touch base with the County. Jessamine added that the board is never sure that City Council is
actually looking at the memos OSAB sends them. David suggested that the discussion could be kept very
simple, like "what format is the most helpful for you?" Michiko asked if the meeting with Council
members should be before the property tour. Jessamine said that it could be before the memo to
Council is written in September. Adam suggested that the memo to Council might get more attention
this year if the ballot measure gets passed with an acquisition reserve specified. Adam added that
people will be looking to see what land is purchased with that fund and will expect to see results. David
commented that it will be important to consider smaller parcels.
David proposed the following timeline: at the July meeting, the board will finalize the list of properties
to visit; at the August meeting, the board will tour properties in a van; at the September meeting, the
board will talk about the properties and propose their ranking for the memo to City Council. Charles
and Helen said they might be absent for the August meeting. David said he might be absent for the
September meeting.
The feedback from this meeting will be incorporated into this document to be included in the meeting
minutes.
10.
