LCityof <br />Louisville <br />City Manager's Office <br />Memorandum <br />To: Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board <br />From: Kayla Betzold, Sustainability Manager <br />Date: July 19, 2023 <br />Re: Staff Updates <br />Events <br />• The Ice Box Challenge will becoming to Louisville July 27 through August 13 and will be <br />located at the John Breaux park across from the Louisville Public Library. <br />• The City will be hosting a Commercial Energy Code Implementation meeting to educate <br />business owners about the new commercial energy code on Tuesday, August 29 from 6- <br />8 p.m. at the Louisville Recreation Center. <br />• Ecotoberfest will be in Louisville at Community Park on Saturday, October 7 from 2-6 <br />p.m. and will feature live music, sustainability-themed vendors, an EV and e-bike <br />showcase, food trucks and kids activities. <br />o Vendor recruitment is happening now. Reach out to Hannah Miller <br />(hmiller@louisvilleco.gov) with names of organizations/companies that would be <br />a good fit for the festival. <br />Projects and Programs <br />• The Green Business Program is now open to new businesses and re -certification for <br />existing businesses. The applications will be open through September 30, 2023. <br />• Staff is currently developing the bag tax funded commercial waste reduction programs, <br />which will be ready to implement in fall 2023. <br />• Boulder County and municipalities are moving forward with the Solar United Neighbors <br />solar co-op, which will launch on Monday, September 18 at the Lafayette Public Library <br />from 6-8 p.m. <br />• The Renewable Energy Portfolio will be included in the August LSAB packet and will be <br />advertised to community members in the Fall Community Update. <br />o A disclaimer will be added to the portfolio that encourages residents to work <br />with their solar developers and Xcel Energy to evaluate potential infrastructure <br />costs associated with onsite PV arrays. <br />1 <br />
