The following
Council members were present: Domenico, Berry, Caranci, Dhieux, and
DiCarlo. Absent: Councilman DelPizzo. Others present: City Admin-
istrator Wurl, City Attorney Morris, City Engineer White, City Clerk
Santilli.

ORDINANCE #476
WATER BOND ISSUE
$800,000

SALES & USE TAX

Attorney Morris read the Ordinance #476
by title only.
Councilman Berry moved that Ordinance
#476 be adopted. Seconded by Councilman
DiCarlo.
Mayor Waschak opened a public hearing.
There were no remarks for or against the
Ordinance. The public hearing was closed
and a roll call vote was taken. Domenico
yes, Berry yes, Dhieux yes, Caranci yes,
DiCarlo yes. Motion carried.

Mr. Wurl stated that Council authorized
Attorney Morris to draw up a sales and
use tax ordinance. He stated that CAC
recommended that a sales tax ordinance
be drawn up only, because the use tax
may cause the defeat of the sales tax if
under the same ordinance. Mr. Wurl
stated that he asked Mr. Morris to draw
up another ordinance eliminating the
use tax portion of the ordinance.
Attorney Morris stated that he had
prepared a sales tax ordinance and would
have ready for the next meeting a use
tax ordinance if desired by the Council.
Attorney Morris stated that with a sales
tax the state would be the collecting
agency therefore having better control
over delinquent accounts.
After discussion Councilman Berry moved
that the City Attorney be instructed to
prepare an ordinance providing for a
use tax to be placed on the ballot.
The ordinance to be presented to Council
at the September 2, meeting.
