<br />ORDINANCE 11483 <br />CITY TREASURER SALARY cont'd <br /> <br />RESOLUTION FOR ABOLISHMENT <br />OF ELECTED POSITIONS <br />CITY TREASURER & CITY CLERK <br /> <br />Councilman Caranci asked if the State <br />Statutes state that the City needs a <br />Treasurer. <br />Attorney Morris stated that the City <br />Treasurer can be appointed he does not <br />need to be elected. <br />Councilman Caranci asked Mr. Krahl if <br />there is any problem with the issuing <br />of bonds and an elected City Treasurer. <br />Mr. Krahl stated that there are many <br />cities who appoint their treasurer and <br />clerks. He stated that there would be <br />no problem with the bond issue if the <br />positions were appointed. <br />Councilman Caranci called for a question <br />on the motion. Council defeated the <br />publishing of Ordinance #483 increasing <br />the City Treasurer salary. <br /> <br />Councilman Caranci then entertained a <br />motion for Council to instruct the City <br />Attorney to draw up a Resolution to be <br />placed on the November ballot eliminating <br />the election of the City Clerk and City <br />Treasurer and put to the appointment by <br />City Council. Seconded by Councilwoman <br />Dhieux. Councilman DiCarlo asked City <br />Clerk Santilli her feelings on the ap- <br />pointment of the office of City Clerk. <br />She stated that she had no objection and <br />preferred the position to be appointed <br />rather then elected. <br />Councilman Berry felt the efficiency of <br />the position would be served better under <br />someone who is directly responsible to <br />the City Administrator. <br />With no other comments Council approved <br />the motion to have the resolution drawn up. <br /> <br />Mr. Wurl stated that if the position of <br />City Clerk is put in for the appointment <br />by Council the salary will be worked into <br />the Personel Policy and Ordinance #482 <br />will be void. <br /> <br />Councilman DiCarlo moved that the City <br />Attorney report be accepted and placed <br />on file. Seconded by Councilman Berry. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />-5- <br />
