<br />SALARY INCREASE <br />ELECTED OFFICIALS cont'd <br /> <br />ORDINANCE #482 <br />CITY CLERK SALARY <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 11483 <br />CITY TREASURER SALARY <br /> <br />Council stated their feelings on the <br />raise increase. After discussion Coun- <br />cilman Berry moved to instruct the City <br />Attorney to draw up an Ordinance increasing <br />the Mayor salary to $125 per month and <br />Council to $75 per month. Seconded by <br />Councilwoman Dhieux. Roll call. Domenico <br />no, Berry yes, Caranci no, Dhieux yes, <br />DiCarlo no. Motion defeated. <br /> <br />Attorney Morris read Ordinance #482 <br />increasing the salary of the City Clerk <br />to $10,200 per year. <br />Councilman Caranci moved that Ordinance <br />#482 be ordered published. Seconded by <br />Councilman Domenico. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Attorney Morris read Ordinance #483 <br />increasing the salary of the City <br />Treasurer to $1,200 per year. <br />Councilman DiCarlo moved that Ordinance <br />#483 be ordered published. Seconded <br />by Councilman Caranci. <br />Councilman Domenico stated that he felt <br />the salary should stay the same. Coun- <br />cilman Berry agreed. <br />Councilman Caranci and DiCarlo felt that <br />travel expense should be included in the <br />salary and not put on as an added ex- <br />pense. <br />Mr. Conarroe felt the City Treasurers <br />position should not be an elected po- <br />sition but an appointed office. <br />Mr. Wurl stated that he would like to <br />abolish the election of both the City <br />Treasurer and City Clerk and have them <br />appointed by Council. <br />Councilman Domenico felt the City Clerk <br />should be elected. <br />Councilman Caranci asked if the abolish- <br />ment of the City Treasurer and Clerk is <br />defeated on the ballot then would a <br />special election have to be held again <br />to elect the Clerk and Treasurer. <br />Attorney Morris stated that he spoke with <br />Susan Griffith of the Municipal League <br />and she is checking to see if it is <br />possible to have both the~abolishment of <br />the two position on the ballot and the <br />candidates on the ballot should the abo- <br />lishment be defeated. Attorney Morris <br />stated that the abolishment may be put <br />on the ballot by resolution. <br /> <br />-4- <br />
