SALARY INCREASE ELECTED OFFICIALS cont'd ORDINANCE #482 CITY CLERK SALARY ORDINANCE 11483 CITY TREASURER SALARY Council stated their feelings on the raise increase. After discussion Coun- cilman Berry moved to instruct the City Attorney to draw up an Ordinance increasing the Mayor salary to $125 per month and Council to $75 per month. Seconded by Councilwoman Dhieux. Roll call. Domenico no, Berry yes, Caranci no, Dhieux yes, DiCarlo no. Motion defeated. Attorney Morris read Ordinance #482 increasing the salary of the City Clerk to $10,200 per year. Councilman Caranci moved that Ordinance #482 be ordered published. Seconded by Councilman Domenico. Motion carried. Attorney Morris read Ordinance #483 increasing the salary of the City Treasurer to $1,200 per year. Councilman DiCarlo moved that Ordinance #483 be ordered published. Seconded by Councilman Caranci. Councilman Domenico stated that he felt the salary should stay the same. Coun- cilman Berry agreed. Councilman Caranci and DiCarlo felt that travel expense should be included in the salary and not put on as an added ex- pense. Mr. Conarroe felt the City Treasurers position should not be an elected po- sition but an appointed office. Mr. Wurl stated that he would like to abolish the election of both the City Treasurer and City Clerk and have them appointed by Council. Councilman Domenico felt the City Clerk should be elected. Councilman Caranci asked if the abolish- ment of the City Treasurer and Clerk is defeated on the ballot then would a special election have to be held again to elect the Clerk and Treasurer. Attorney Morris stated that he spoke with Susan Griffith of the Municipal League and she is checking to see if it is possible to have both the~abolishment of the two position on the ballot and the candidates on the ballot should the abo- lishment be defeated. Attorney Morris stated that the abolishment may be put on the ballot by resolution. -4-
